Our story
It started with a trip to Japan.
I’d thought about getting back into Pokémon for some years, but Japan gave me the real push. The sick card shops, The Pokémon Center, gacha machines and friendly people made me want to keep discovering new things.
Naturally, “some” packs and a few cool cards came home with me. Rediscovering your childhood hobby is a lot of fun. Rediscovering it with adult money? Even more!
Back home, the curiosity kept growing. I started researching, collecting and eventually found Whatnot. I spent more there than I’d care to admit, but the best thing I found wasn’t a card. It was the people.
Soon, I was joining streams just to hang out, chat and crack jokes. I even started streaming myself, with some wins and some losses but a lot of fun. That community became a big part of what I loved about the hobby.
From collecting to restoring
After about a year and a half of daily Pokémon obsession, I decided to try restoration.
I wanted to learn a hands-on craft—something away from a screen, where patience and practice could make a visible difference. Getting to work with Pokémon cards made it even better.
Seeing people’s reactions to restored cards made something click. A personal grail doesn’t have to be the most expensive card in the room. It might be a childhood favourite, a gift or a card someone spent years looking for. For me it’s the art, whether cheap or not. Or pulling the card, especially at a special time and/or location.
I no longer have my childhood cards tho. But if I did, I’d want to give them the best care I could. That feeling is at the heart of Beezvreez: bringing back some of the glory and doing a well-loved card justice.
And the name?
Beezvreez started as my gamer tag in 2011, when I was starting high school and needed an online name. It popped into my head, and to this day I have no idea where it came from.
I used it on Whatnot expecting to stay fairly anonymous. Instead, people got to know me by it. When restoration became part of the story, keeping the name felt like the way to go.
Besides, I love bees.
